How SUCCEED Helped Horse During Surgery Recovery and Beyond

We love to hear about you, your horses, and the health and performance success you are finding together. Thanks to Fay Windsor for writing in to tell the story of her horse Sovereign and how he has benefited from SUCCEED. The results speak for themselves. Use the share your story form on the website if you have a SUCCEED story you’d like to see featured on our blog.

My 5 year old Friesian/Percheron cross, Sovereign, has really benefited from SUCCEED. I first put him on SUCCEED when he was on stall rest recovering from hock surgery, as I was worried that being in a stall for 24 hours a day every day would affect his digestive health. I researched everything on the market and SUCCEED kept coming up as the most recommended product out there.

Knowing he had just gone through the trauma of the surgery, I wanted to support his digestive health with SUCCEED. He came back from the hospital and I could clearly see he was under duress and his digestive system needed support.

We started the SUCCEED in the paste format right away and were relieved to see a noticeable improvement in about a week. We switched to the top dressing about 10 days after we started the paste.

The vet recommended cutting his feed on stall rest, and I worried about how this would affect his condition. But although he obviously lost tone from being unable to walk around, miraculously his coat still stayed glossy!

I also attribute the SUCCEED for helping him maintain an even temperament during this difficult time.

Furthermore, Sovereign used to be a wood chewer and I was terrified he would completely eat his stall when on stall rest – but he did not chew even ONCE after the first week and a half on SUCCEED!

Now Sovereign is all better, off the stall rest and back to his job as a hard working dressage horse. He trains 5 days a week and in the spring and summer attend shows and clinics most weekends. He seems to deal with the challenge of traveling much better and his performance is truly 100%. His coat is glossy and he just looks better than he ever has.

We decided to keep him on SUCCEED and it’s one of the best decisions we ever made. I wish I had known about it earlier!

We currently use the top dress granules but I just found out I can get it in convenient SmartPaks (where I also get his joint supplements) so I will be changing to those shortly.

Without SUCCEED, I’m not sure our 5-year-old, homebred National Hunt racehorse Cloudy would still be here. That, or we would be drowning under vets bills whilst we tried to work out how we could help him.
