Heroes on Horses at NSBA World Show 2011

It’s easy to get caught up in the rigors of competition – having the perfect horse, the perfect ride, and winning the title. But even for the most serious of competitors, horses are so much more than just our competition partners.

Horses are also our friends and, for many, they are family. A good horse can win you a ribbon, but a better one can touch your heart. And often horses speak to us in ways that no human can.

Many of our American soldiers are finding out that horses really are the best therapists for both mind and body. When nothing else seems to make a difference for these men and women devastated by war, a horse can. See and hear first hand what horses are doing for our heroes in one Maryland therapeutic riding program:

PATH International Horses for Heroes Programs

Professional Association of Therapeutic Horsemanship Internationally (formerly NARHA) established its equine assisted activities and therapies Horses for Heroes program in 2007.

PATH-accredited centers all over the US have partnered with various veterans affairs organizations to offer horsemanship programs to service personnel. Participants in Horses for Heroes are home from war and are often recovering from wounds, adjusting to disabilities, suffering from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, or transitioning from military to home life.

The National Snaffle Bit Association is partnering with PATH to offer Heroes on Horses at the World Show, August 17-21, 2011. The Heroes on Horses event is two classes at the NSBA World Show specifically for disabled veterans and active-duty “wounded warriors” who participate in PATH’S Horses for Heroes program.

Riders have the option to ride in one of two classes at the show: Western Walk/Trot for independent riders or Western Walk/Trot for supported riders (those whose disabilities require them to have assistance from a person on the ground for safety).

As the title sponsor for the NSBA Heroes on Horses Event, we are extremely proud and excited to be a part of this special program. Any opportunity to support our veterans and active service personnel is a privilege. To combine this with our ultimate mission of helping horses is a true win-win!

SUCCEED® is proud to be a Gold Sponsor of the 2011 NSBA World Show and the title sponsor for the inaugural Heroes on Horses event.
