Where #SeriousHorsePeople come to better understand digestive health in horses and its impact and management.

A First-Time Kentucky Derby Experience

Since joining Freedom Health in early 2005, Nicole Pearlman has dreamed of attending the Kentucky Derby. This year, at last, her dream came true.

For the past five years, Nicole has served as customer service rep for top thoroughbred trainer Nick Zito. Thanks to Zito’s generosity, Nicole and a friend enjoyed all the action at the 2011 Kentucky Derby from the clubhouse seats.

Nicole’s day started out with a stop by the Zito barns to pick up her tickets. Surprisingly, all was quiet the morning of the big race.

From there she found her seat and got used to the lay of the land – and of betting on the horses.

After a few races and winning $12, Nicole went wandering to check out the rest of the clubhouse area, the grandstands, and the VIP Sky Terrace (complete with several celebrities).

After a tour of the facilities, she settled in with the customary mint julep to get ready for the big race.

The view was wonderful as the Kentucky Derby horses and their crews stepped onto the dirt track.

Nicole was, of course, rooting for Team SUCCEED members Dialed In with trainer Nick Zito.

Nicole said that the electric atmosphere was palpable during the race and that it truly is the most exciting two minutes in sports.

“It was a dream come true to participate in a tradition that goes back so far,” said Nicole. Even if it was just one time, I can say that I went to the Kentucky Derby. Since I work in the horse industry, it meant so much to me – especially knowing that SUCCEED was a tiny part of it.”
