Steffen Peters is a four-time U.S. Olympic dressage competitor and three-time USEF Horseman of the Year. Steffen and his wife and business partner, three-time national championship dressage competitor Shannon, run a training and boarding facility in San Diego, California. Recognizing the challenges put on international show horses, Shannon and Steffen have been feeding SUCCEED since the summer of 2005.
Steffen Peter’s Dressage Achievements
Originally born in Wesel, Germany, Steffen moved to San Diego in 1984. He became a U.S. citizen in 1992, and has represented the U.S. in the Olympics four times, winning team bronze in the 1996 Atlanta Olympics riding Udon, a KWPN gelding he brought with him from Germany.
But it’s with the gelding Ravel — the United States Dressage Federation’s Horse of the Year in 2009 — that Steffen has racked up the most awards, including the FEI Rolex World Cup Finals, the Grand Prix, the Special and the Freestyle at Aachen. The pair also won two bronze medals at the 2010 Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games. He’s been named the USEF Equestrian of the Year three times and represented the U.S. in numerous international competitions, including the Olympics.
Peters’ Show Horses More Responsive on SUCCEED®
The horses we have on SUCCEED pick themselves up more, respond to aids better and exhibit better overall trainability, which makes an enormous impact at the top level, Shannon said. We always try to keep things as natural as we can for our horses and to limit what we put in the feed bucket to only the products that work and continue to work. We believe in doing whatever we can nutritionally to help our horses to be the most comfortable and gastrointestinally sound that we can.
During a show situation we want our horses to be extremely comfortable, Steffen said. And a happy horse and a comfortable horse simply performs better…SUCCEED helps us to achieve this goal.
